hello 👅
For our first issue (wow that sounds fancy), we wanted to go simple. It’s been difficult to keep track of alllll the people attempting to validate their talents on social media lately, so we just wanted to see if, when people see this their reaction is going to be, ‘hey, cute idea’ or they’re gonna go ‘man, more people trying to put up shit on the internet’.

We trust that lately most people have been looking to social media for a boost of serotonin, here are a couple of pages/posts/people we loved this week.
Can we please talk about how this meme page is the funniest thing we’ve seen this week?? Thank you Akshar Pathak for constantly posting about it, forcing us to be like ok what is the deal with this page, and discovering this beauty. They’re making a meme of every scene of Hera Pheri, you’ve gotta admire this dude’s commitment.

Bored of washing barthans and doing jaadu-pocha like us this lockdown?
Kenny Sebastian apart from being an amazing stand-up comedian, singer, and overall cutie , now hosts a podcast or as he would like to say, “long recording of me talking” called Simple Ken. He tries to answer questions from his fans without giving advice, judges everyone and makes *slurp* noises. Yeah that pretty much sums it up.
It’s available on most streaming platforms- Spotify, Apple Music and others. He also uploads them on YouTube (link below).
PLUS POINT: He invites some super fun guests like Kanan Gill, Biswa Kalyan Rath and Naveen Richard.
Another podcast we loved, is on the complete other end of the spectrum. Violet Benson’s (she’s the creator of the Instagram page DaddyIssues) podcast Too Tired to Be Crazy we wanna say is hilarious.

Her brutal honesty makes it super funny and super entertaining, also some of her stories are wild!!! However warning, she is quite explicit with her descriptions (and the details about her experiences) and you should definitely think twice before taking any of her dating advice. Like some of the things she talks about made us go,

Making up for what you listened to, if we convinced you to listen to her, take the wholesome content that we live for. On This Corner NYC shares the most charming stories from the streets of New York City, and there are some absolute gems.

We really wish this page was more popular, and god wouldn’t it be fun to have it in other cities? The stories are romantic and sad and funny and heartwarming all at the same time. It’s beautiful how something as simple as a street corner can mean something completely different to different people.
“Because the greatest city in the world deserves to have its stories told.”

Reading:
Things I Miss by Mari Andrew (she manages to find the happy and wholesome in the very not-so world we live in, she’s one of our absolutely favorite writers, mostly because of her illustrations).
Finishing an entire tub of ice cream after every bad exam( which happens quite a lot), has become a ritual for us. I’m obsessed with ice cream, and I’m not sorry by Renuka Joshi-Modi, is a small but fun read about our OG comfort food.

Niran’s thoughts this week:

This quote(or a different version of it) seems to be all over Instagram these days, and I’ve been having a tough time accepting that things aren’t going to be the same again.
Each time my phone shows me a memory of what I was doing 1 or 2 years ago, I just wish that I could go back to those good times. But lately I’ve been realizing that I used to whine about a lot of things not being right back then too (oops). It’s just that in retrospect that time seems better. And yes, we’re in the middle of a global pandemic (nobody needs a reminder I know, sorry). So really anything feels better than what is happening right now.
But after all this, I’m looking forward to see what my ‘new normal’ is going to look like.
Will it be worse, will it be the same, or will it better? Who knows?
What do you guys think the biggest change/adjustment is going to be when we eventually find a ‘new normal’? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

Much love,
Niran & Niti
Nice!
